New Job

Hi, all!

Sorry for my absence.  I recently acquired a new teaching job, and I couldn't be more excited.  I have been busy getting settled in my classroom and preparing for the holidays.

Here are some pics of my new home away from home:

It is a work in progress since I came in at the end of this semester, but I will post more pictures after I fix it up some more!

Hope you are enjoying what is left of the holiday season!!

Best wishes,

Our First Christmas

Hello all,

The Holiday Season is definitely in full swing!  I know Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited to make food, spend time with my family, and just be thankful for all I have.

Since this year is the first Christmas to spend with my husband as a married couple, we have been super excited to decorate.  So, I thought I would show you the wreath I made for our door.

All of these materials were super cheap, and they were actually free to me.  My mom is a very generous woman!

I hope this gives you inspiration to make your very own Christmas wreath.

Happy Holidays,

Late Night Crafting

Hello everyone,

Tonight I am having trouble sleeping, so I decided to listen to Spotify and make something pretty.

I have made many bookmarks in the past out of scrapbook paper and ribbon, but I took a  different approach tonight. I used card stock, magazine clippings, and burlap ribbon to make a collaged book mark.

This was an extremely simple project, and it only took about 20 minutes to complete!  I absolutely love doing any project where I can incorporate collaging.  Making collages was my first crafting addiction, and I still enjoy the sensation of finding the perfect piece, ripping it out of the magazine, and cutting it to perfection.  For me, collages are like a puzzle that I get to create.  So much fun!

I hope you are all having an awesome week!  Be sure to share some of your latest crafty project ideas in the comments below.

Love,

Halloween 2014

Hello lovelies,

This year for Halloween I decided to dress up! I haven't worn a costume in years, and I am beyond excited. So, I thought I would share a few pictures of it all put together.

This year I am going as Rosie the Riveter!

What you need to recreate this costume:

1. A blue or denim collared shirt
2. A red bandana or scarf
3. A pair of jeans
4. A pair of boots

Then just tie up of your hair and roll up you're sleeves and you are a regular Rosie. I had all of these things laying around my apartment, so this was a total cost of $0. What a steal! I even borrowed the shirt and boots from my husband.

So what are you going as for Halloween? Leave me your costume ideas in the comments below.

I hope you all are having an awesome October!

Hello all,

It is that time of year where the sound of crunchy leaves blowing on the pavement is music to my ears. In celebration of this wonderful season, I thought I would post an outfit of the day:

This outift is one that you will typically see me wearing in the Fall season. It is super comfortable, and the colors make me so happy.

T-shirt: Old Navy
Cardigan: Target
Scarf: Maurices
Pants and Shoes: Cato

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below. I love hearing from you all! Hope you're having a great week and thanks for visiting!

A Quick Post Before Bed

Hello everyone,

I hope your weekend was grand. Here are a few updated pictures of my bedroom mirror:

This mirror has gone from gold to purple to now a very light blue.

It matches our bedroom colors from our room makeover back in February. I love it and achieved the look by using a dry brush technique over a coat of white paint. The light blue and whitre paint are both Apple Barrel brand, and this was definitely an easy inexpensive project coming in under $5.

Have a great week fellow crafters, and I hope you enjoy our first week of October.

Love,

To Fall and New Beginings

Hello lovelies,

It has been a long absence once again.  The last 9 months have been a whirlwind for me!  I got married to my best friend, graduated college with a B.A. in English Ed., decided teaching wasn't for me right now, and lost 40 lbs.

So now that we are all caught up, how about some pictures from my time away, eh?

My January to May weight loss

My graduation on May 9th

My wedding on May 31st

This past year has definitely had its ups and downs, but it has also been one of the best years of my life.  I want to start blogging more to keep myself busy and start focusing on creating.  A few short term goals of mine are to craft more, read more, and write more.  I am currently reading Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me  (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling.  It is a combination of sound advice and utter hilarity.

A long term goal that I am working toward is starting a YouTube channel where I vlog about my life, give you crafting tips and demonstrations, etc. If you have any ideas about what else I could do in my videos, I would love to hear them! I love the YouTube community, and YouTube has been a big part of my life for the past 7 years.  Youtubers like the Vlogbrothers, Sprinkleofglitter, Joseph Birdsong, ZeFrank etc. (I could really name so many) have given me inspiration, words of wisdom, hope, and laughs when I have needed them most this past year and for the last 7 years. I want to become a bigger part of this community by giving myself a voice and actually making videos, so wish me luck!

I  WILL post another blog post this week. Stay tuned, and thanks for reading!

A Long Time Coming...

Hello, everyone!

I know that it has been far too long since our last chat.  I have been so busy this year, and I apologize for my absence.  I am almost finished with college, and I will graduate in May after completing a full 16 weeks of teaching.  Also, I am getting married on May 31st, and I could not be more excited!!

Back in August, I moved in with my fiance, and I just love our cute apartment.  We already have plans to move though, and we plan on renting a house after we get married.

Also, I have recently made a pledge to get healthier.  I started Nutrisystem two days ago, and I have lost 2lbs.  I hope to lose a lot more before spring and summer are over.  I already feel better about myself, and I have so much more energy.  I have even started working out more regularly over the past month, and it has made a big difference in how I feel as well.

I will be hanging up some art in the apartment and organizing my bathroom tonight.  I will post about it later this week.  I hope you are all having a great 2014 so far!!
